How to add your own photos to your music video

Picture a music video for your song where the characters aren't strangers — they look like the people you love. Mom who actually resembles Mom. Grandpa with his moustache. Your dog. That's exactly what the “My photos” option does: you add photos of your loved ones, and we build video characters that resemble them.

This guide walks you through adding your own photos to your Heart Melody account, step by step, so they show up in your Lyric Video or Full Music Video. The whole thing takes a few minutes, and the difference shows from the very first frame.

What is the “My photos” option?

Normally we create the characters in your video from the story in your order — they fit the mood of the song, but they're generic figures. When you add your own photos, a character with a given name starts to resemble a specific, real person: their features, their hairstyle, the little things that make them them.

This is different from dropping your snapshots into the clip like a slideshow. Here, your loved one becomes a character in the story we tell — they appear in the scenes as if the video were about them. The same photo library works for both the Lyric Video (an animated video with the lyrics on screen) and the Full Music Video (a full cinematic clip).

Where do I find it?

It all happens in your account — in the “My photos” tab. Go to:

  • heartmelody.ai/my-account?tab=characters — a direct link to the “My photos” tab.
  • Or: log in, open “My account” and switch to the “My photos” tab.

You log in with the same email you used for your order — just click the sign-in link we send to your inbox. Photos you add stay on your account, so you can prepare them in advance, even before you order a video.

How to add your photos — step by step

Step 1: Log in to your account

Open “My account”, sign in with your email, and go to the “My photos” tab. You'll see a field for adding your first person and a list of anyone you've already added.

Step 2: Add a person and give them a name

Type the name of the person you want in the video — for example “Emma”, “Dad” or “Jake” — and click “Add”. That name matters: it should match the name this person is called by in the song. That's how we know the character “Emma” in the lyrics is the very Emma in your photos. Your library can hold up to 20 people.

Step 3: Upload photos

Next to the person, click the upload tile and pick photos from your phone or computer. You can add up to 6 photos per person. We support JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF, up to 15 MB per file — larger phone photos are optimized automatically, so there's no need to crop anything yourself. Photos save instantly; you can remove a single photo, rename the person or delete them entirely at any time.

Step 4: Order a Lyric Video or Full Music Video

Once your library is ready, order a Lyric Video or Full Music Video for your song — as an add-on at checkout, or later from your order page. When we build the video, we automatically pull the photos from your account and match them to the people in the song. You won't have to upload them again.

Which photos work best? A few tips

The better the photos, the more faithful the character. You don't need a photo shoot — good phone photos are plenty. A few things to keep in mind:

  • A clear, well-lit face — ideally looking straight at the camera.
  • A few different shots of the same person — close up and from a bit further away. They give us a fuller picture.
  • Recent photos — ones where the person looks the way you want to see them in the video.
  • No sunglasses, heavy filters or other people in the frame — one face per photo works best.
  • Adding several people (say Mom and Dad)? Create a separate entry for each, with their own name and photos.

Remember: the name must match the song

The single most important rule: the person's name in your library should match the name you call them in the song. If the lyrics sing about “Jake”, add a person named “Jake”. When the names line up, the right face lands on the right character. We recognize common nicknames, but the safest bet is to use the exact form of the name that appears in the song.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to add my own photos?

No — it's an option for those who want the video characters to resemble specific people. If you don't add any photos, we'll create characters from the story in your order and your video will still look beautiful.

Do the photos work for both the Lyric Video and the Full Music Video?

Yes. The same “My photos” library powers both kinds of video — the animated Lyric Video with the lyrics on screen and the Full Music Video. You only add your photos once.

How many people and photos can I add?

Your library holds up to 20 people, with up to 6 photos each. That's more than enough even for a song about the whole family.

What about photos of my pet?

It works just like it does for people — add a person with your pet's name (say “Bella”) and upload their photos. If the song mentions your pet by name, they'll show up in the video.

Are my photos safe?

Yes. Your photos go only to your account and are used to prepare your video. You can delete them at any time — a single photo or an entire person.

In short

The “My photos” option turns your video into something even more personal — the characters look like your loved ones instead of anonymous figures. Just log in, add a person with a name, upload a few photos and order a Lyric Video or Full Music Video. A few minutes of work, and the result stays with you for a long time.
